We're on our way!
We're going to climb up that mountain,
and run and jump and play!
Truer words have never been spoken.
BUT, when you become a wife and a mother, sacrifice follows in tow. So, that's what I did Saturday night. I took one for the team and camped out with the boys. In the backyard. With the bathroom close by. And the warm glow of the kitchen light shining through the window into our tent. No really, it was actually pretty fun. After picking up a tent, air mattress (oh yes, I don't camp on the ground...who does that?), and lantern we started our camp-out at about 6:30. The boys successfully pitched the tent around 7, hot dogs were grilled by 8, and by 9 we had read 4 different books and the boys were nestled in their sleeping bags. But y'all...it got cold FAST! I mean arctic temperatures and sweet little Austin and his rowdy self would not stay still long enough to get some warmth from his sleeping bag. So about midnight, I sweetly nudged the hubs and said I was taking Austin inside and I might as well just stay inside too. SO I MADE IT TO MIDNIGHT! Huge. HUGE. The boys loved it and I must say, my confidence has been reassured enough that I could do it again. But I am not sure about an actual campsite, yet. Well see.
Our camping adventure began Saturday night after a trip to Shreveport which included the following....
A trip to Lee Michael's so I could get my new anniversary band sized! Nick surprised me with this gorgeous 5 year anniversary band. I was speechless. I cried. I love it! Then I was a little bummed that it may take up to 2 weeks to have it sized right since my 3 and 3/4 sized finger can't quite fit into it. Sacrifice again, y'all.
While we were there, the boys tailgated....
And played on the best playground I have EVER seen....Leaps and Bounds I believe was the name of it...Seriously, not only could you lose your child in a heartbeat, you never see the same thing twice....
And then we did a little Mexican dining at Superior....
