Clowns....A Frightening Subject

A comment on my previous post from my sister, Lindsey, prompted the subject-matter for this post--

Clowns.

I recently shared with you that Austin has a phobia of all animals right now.  And it was kind of tripping me out because I had never seen a child react so crazily to sweet four-legged creatures.  Then, my sister's comment and childhood memories let the past-memory floodgates open wide.  Wide, y'all.  So much so, that copying these images to put on this post was down-right torturous and terrifying.

I'll start of PG....

Bozo The Clown.

This clown was tolerable. I actually used to watch the morning show on TV when I was young. (When the TV had 12 channels that we had to turn by hand on the TV. Soon after this show I am pretty sure we got a remote. BIG TIME!)

I liked watching all the little kids play the games and secretly wished I could throw that little ping-pong ball in the strategically positioned popcorn buckets.  But only if I didn't have to see Bozo.  Freaky.

Mall Clowns.

Tolerable but getting a little out of my comfort zone.  I remember seeing one particular mall clown at the Ford Park Mall in Shreveport back in the day.  He was at the carousel handing out balloons.  Fine, from afar, but the closer we got to him, the tighter I clung to my Momma.  Then, our eyes locked and I LOST IT...No sir. No balloon from the clown mall for me. Done.

Then, there is this Stephen King beauty.

Mom and Dad wouldn't let me see this, but I am pretty sure I caught bits and pieces of It when it aired on HBO.  Disturbing to say the least.  It was like tossing straight gasoline on to my clown-phobic fire and I was traumatized.

Let me preface this part with a particular movie that my sister loved to torture me with.  Kids will be kids, yes.  But my sister had a HAYDAY with this particular movie, Peewee Herman's Big Adventure.  A scary movie?  Not at all.  A scary part in it?

OH YES SIR-- Large Marge.

This image above is the very reason I believe I am so stinking terrified of clowns.  Look at the clown resemblance?  It is terribly similar.

So Lindsey, would LOVE to pause the movie on this particular part and let my 3 and 4 year old little mind be absolutely wrecked because of how disturbing Large Marge looks! Oh gosh, it's hard not to look at this now and bust out laughing, but still want to secretly run for my Momma!  How weird does this chick look? HAHA!

And finally, the Most Disturbing Clown Moment of My Life, goes to......

Killer Klowns from Outer Space!

Please tell me someone out there has seen this terrible excuse for a movie?!?!  This movie absolutely ruined me.  How they abducted sweet little people and then turned them into giant cotton candies and sucked their blood out with long-loopey straws.  WHAT? It was nuts.  I am pretty sure I spent a month on my parent's floor.

See, y'all.  I am ruined.  I can't do clowns.  Don't want to.  Never.  Please, shield your babies from the absolute weirdness of clowns.  It can lead to a lifetime in therapy....
