I have already started playing Christmas Music...

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

I do this every year.  I get bitten by the I-NEED-CHRISTMAS-MUSIC-NOW bug and my iTunes radio cranks up those sweet Christmas jingles way too early.  Well, I guess most people would say that, but I personally enjoy it.  iTunes Radio has a great selection from old old classics to new Christmas music.

As my office fills with music, this gets my mind a-going trying to figure out what new and old Christmas/Holiday traditions our family will partake in.  It's an absolute must (and extremely hard to avoid) the new tradition of seeing the Natchitoches Christmas lights.  It began last year when I came down to interview for the job and it will continue this year.  It was so wonderful watching Jackson's face light up as he got to see Santa in his house, eat funnel cake along the riverbank, and sip on hot chocolate as we walked in different tunnels of lights.  It really is magical.  I highly recommend it if you have not ever been- it would be fun to do with kids, as a couple, or even by yourself!

The ladies in my family also started a baking day so-to-speak-- My Mom, Lindsey, and I got together with the kids at my Mom's and let the kids go nuts while we baked various holiday treats that are absolute staples during the holiday season-- Trash, Puppy Chow,  and Peanut Butter Cup Cookies.  Yes, please! Can't wait for that!

I would really like to start some new Thanksgiving traditions this year.  Something we can all do as a family- Anyone have any suggestions?  Last year, I decided to invite ALL of our closest friends and family over for a huge Thanksgiving feast at our house a week or so before Thanksgiving.  I guess it was more of a rite of passage for me- To successfully cook a full Thanksgiving dinner and I did it.  We had about 40 people. And even though all I wanted was to cook, I didn't realize how blessed I felt getting to fellowship with all of our friends.  I truly felt thankfulness for the relationships that have carried us through so  many different seasons.  BUT...with us being out of town now, I am not sure if that will happen.  Any takers?!?!

I would love to know if any of y'all have things your families do during November specifically....

Before the holiday spirit took off, Jackson had his last soccer game.

It was so cold, y'all.  I was very thankful Gannie brought Jackson this hat from Denver last year!  Jackson has this new found fascination with Sock Monkeys, these days....

Snacks and trophies! I can't think of a better way to end the soccer season....

We ventured to Ruston this weekend for Mikey's birthday and had a great time celebrating with family.

They had such a great time with their uncle that they matured faster than we could keep up with--

Hilarious. Enough Said. Who would have known a paci would make the most awesome mustache-holder?

I also got to spend some wonderful sister time with Lindsey at Cedartown, got my hair done (it was way overdue), repeat performance with my sweet MIL at Cedartown, and then a huge gameday celebration for the LSU/Bama game at bestie Sarah's house.  It was a great weekend.  Nick is still looking for that big buck, but I know it will come all in good time.

Now, I am going to get lost in Ernest Tubb's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer...don't judge.

  1. We are doing a "Thanks Jar" where we write something each day we are thankful for and put them in a jar. I'm also making a "Thankful" banner and some Turkey shaped treats that the kids can help with. Check out my Pinterest boards... :)

  2. I would definitely be down for a Thanksgiving repeat this year, even in Natty! Or maybe I could help out this time and you could teach me how to make all that fancy stuff. :) I am very thankful for you, your life, your friendship and your unconditional love. Love you!!
